The First 30 Days

by Inspire Fundraisingon 4 January 2017in Uncategorized

On your first day in a new job, there are always so many questions.  How long is training, where do I put my lunch, who can I ask for help?  This article walks you through your first month at Inspire.

DAY 1
Welcome to Orientation

We believe a new hire orientation program is much more successful when it is less about the company and more about the employees. The first few minutes of the first day can make all the difference and lead to happier more engaged trainees. And of course, welcoming new hires is a team event. You can expect a whirl-wind office tour to help you get a lay of the land (just where are these healthy snacks?), a team ice-breaker with just the right amount of “putting-you-on-the-spot” to help break those “new hire jitters” and a great team of mentors to help show you the ropes and make you feel right at home. Get ready to jump into your new career.

DAY 2 to 14
Your Training Begins

Instructor and peer-lead training will walk you through the building blocks of delivering successful and passionate fundraising calls. Instructors will provide the tools you will need to be effective and happy on call. Training topics will include client orientations, systems training, call regulations and of course advanced fundraising and customer service skills. A special focus is spent on “experiential learning,” our fancy way of saying “how you feel” is just as important as “what you say.” Our goal is to help you love what you do by providing the language, coaching and support you need to be successful and deliver outstanding customer experiences on each and every call.

DAY 14 TO 30
On-boarding to your Campaign & Meeting your Team

Now that you’ve been welcomed to your new career and trained on using some fancy new tools it’s time to help make a real difference in the world by joining your first fundraising campaign. Each campaign has individual and team goals and targets as well as daily, weekly or monthly incentives and challenges. You’ll probably start spending more time getting to know your new client and learning more about their cause. There are a variety of ways to help you feel more connected, lunch-and-learns, skills workshops and daily coaching are a great start to becoming a leader on your campaign.

You will also be introduced to your new team at Inspire as you are assigned a Team Lead. Your Team Lead’s role is simple, to help you love what you do. They will provide you with mentorship, support and regular communication to help you continue to develop your skills as a professional fundraising agent. Team leads will help you review calls, build new skills, schedule training and generally be your “go-to” person for all your day-to-day needs.

DAY 21 TO 30
Training & Coaching Culture

Now that you have been trained and equipped for success, on-boarded to your first campaign and assigned your team lead, the real fun can begin. That is, your development as a professional fundraiser. We run a number of engaging and interactive training opportunities weekly, including recursive and skills trainings, workshop series, lunch-and-learns, peer-mentorship among others. Continual learning is a big part of our culture at Inspire and we believe a happy employee is an employee immersed in learning and actively pursuing personal and professional growth. Each employee is encouraged to engage and participate in our development process, helping to improve it as we go.

Work Perks

by Inspire Fundraisingon 4 January 2017in Uncategorized

We think there are lots of reasons to love working at Inspire; building lifelong friendships, building your career and being part of something bigger than yourself.  Here are just some of the additional perks and benefits that we use to create a supportive and healthy workplace:

Career Building

Overseas Reward Trips • Individual & Team Incentives • Client Visits & Incentives • Career Path Planning • Lunch-and-Learns • Mentoring Program • Self-Paced Advancement

Health is Wealth

Complete Health Benefits • Dental Care • Eye Exam Coverage • Employee Assistance Program • Life Insurance • Mentoring Program • Self-Paced Advancement

Inspire Happiness

Culture Teams • Health and Fitness Club •  Netflix Club • Holiday Parties • Special Events • Family Events • Carpool Coordination • Bring Your Child to Work Day

In today’s fast-paced world, we can easily spend as much time working as we do with friends and family. It’s easy to see the importance of a workplace that contributes to a healthy work-life balance. Maintaining a healthy balance is not only important for our personal health and relationships, it also improves happiness and the efficiency of our work performance.

Three amazing reasons we embrace work-life-balance:

1We become less susceptible to stress

Occasional stress is normal for every job, burnouts are certainly not.  Burnouts occur “when you feel overwhelmed and unable to meet constant demands”.  The negative effects of a burnout can impact every area of your life, including your personal and social life.  Work-life balance is important as it allows you to separate work and home, meaning that the stress of work should stay at work, and not follow you outside of office hours.  Allowing work stress to infiltrate your home life is one of the primary indicators that you are not achieving a work life balance.  If this is happening to you, take the time to talk this over with your manager, or come up with a plan to avoid a burnout as a result of your professional demands.

2Attention is paid where due

With a balance between work and home, comes greater control of where your focus remains. If you leave your work at the office, your full attention will be on your home life and giving your relationships the attention in which they deserve. When spending time with your partner, children or friends, your mind should be solely focused on the experience you are having, rather than thinking of work concurrently. Similarly, if you are in the office, greater focus should be paid on the tasks at hand. In turn, this makes you a more efficient worker, and demonstrates one of the many benefits of achieving a work life balance.

3We experience fewer health problems

It’s no secret that when we are run down, tired or stressed; our immune system is the one to suffer. Stress can cause a variety of symptoms and can affect your overall health and well-being, from less serious conditions such as the flu, to more serious health issues such as respiratory or digestive problems.  Either way, the fact that stress can impact your health so much is even more of a reason as to why maintaining a healthy work life balance is important.  Taking the time to look after yourself by exercising, eating well and relaxing can contribute to limiting your health problems and make you a more efficient worker during business hours.

Performance Manager

by Inspire Fundraisingon 30 November 2016in Uncategorized

We are looking for a Performance Manager who has an enduring entrepreneurial spirit, is madly passionate about leading people and possesses a natural drive and talent bringing out the best in their team. You will lead a team of industry-leading professional fundraisers who are helping to change the way we think about fundraising.

What we do:

Each day, we speak with donors across Canada to help raise funds, respond to emergencies, renew support, sponsor children, and provide other worthwhile opportunities for donors to help make our world a better place.

The Opportunity:

As a Performance Manager you will be challenged to deliver outstanding fundraising results for our clients, and a rewarding employee experience for our team. This role is challenging – it includes agent development, performance and campaign management, and continuous focus on improvement of donor experience. You are responsible for embracing and driving our unique culture and building front-line engagement.  This is true grassroots opportunity to get “off the bench and into the game” making change from the front line and through all aspects of the business.

To be successful in this role, every day you must demonstrate an extremely curious perspective, be unflinching in your quest to deliver outstanding results for our clients, while being 100% driven by team satisfaction and engagement.  We believe high performance outcomes and fun are not mutually exclusive – they are both critical to success.  This role is almost entirely measured by results.  Control of success is in your hands – intentional flexibility to achieve outcomes, guided by Inspire’s culture and core values – limited by your own creativity and initiative.  There will never be a “boring” day!

The First 30 Days

by Inspire Fundraisingon 16 November 2016in Uncategorized
